Ferronickel is a nickel-iron alloy containing 20% to 60% nickel; its primary constituents are nickel and iron, with minor amounts of cobalt and impurities such as carbon, silicon, sulfur, phosphorus, chromium, and copper. It has a melting point of 1430–1480°C and a density of 8.1–8.4 g/cm³. Nickel and iron are mutually soluble in any proportion in both liquid and solid states. It is primarily used as a nickel additive in steelmaking and cast iron production.

Product Classification

Ferronickel is divided into four major categories according to nickel content (in accordance with international standard ISO 6501):
